Taree Wild Fig Carnival
6-8 May 2015
Taree Croquet Club

Taree Wild Fig Carnival was held from Wednesday 6th to Friday 8th May. Both Association Singles and Golf Croquet Doubles were played on each of the 3 days.

The number of entries received for Association Singles required two blocks to be formed instead of the one block used in the past two years. Taree hopes this trend continues. One block had a number of high handicap players which was good to see. Each player had five 2 1/2 hour games over the 3 days. In each Block there was a clear winner, but the runner-up position was much closer.

The Golf Croquet Doubles required one block of seven pairs. A double round robin was played so each player had 4 games on each of the 3 days. The last game attracted great attention as one pair of the contestants had the chance to equal an 8 wins already achieved. This they managed to do - and win the Block with more net points.

The weather gods smiled on the Carnival this year as fine, sunny, warm weather prevailed each day.

A Carnival Dinner was attended by many of the players on Thursday evening at the nearby Aquatic Club. Good food and a friendly atmosphere were enjoyed by all.

On Friday, after the games were completed, players enjoyed more food before Taree Past President, Bill Freeman, thanked Taree and Forster members and Carnival players who had refereed and the Taree members who had worked in the kitchen or set up and dismantled the courts each day. He then presented the winners with their prizes.
