3 October 2017 - Queanbeyan Croquet Club
 
Peter Freer has just become the 2017 GC Champion at Queanbeyan CC, winning a best of three final against Richard Meacock.

Eight players contested the event, demonstrating the resurgence of competitive croquet at Queanbeyan, which now has over 20 members (and new windows thanks to a Council grant, and a very flat second lawn acquired from the Bowls Club).

Peter will now play in the NSW GC Champion of (Club) Champions at Tempe on 21-23 October.

Queanbeyan is expected to shortly hold its AC Championship, with Nick Chapman & Alan Honey likely to star.

Combined Probus Clubs Enjoy Croquet

On a fine but windy day some seventy members of several local probus club visited the Nowra Croquet Club for croquet and fellowship.

The Nowra Probus Club hosted the visit, with three new clubs i.e St. Georges Basin, South Nowra, and Shoalhaven Heads attending as well as the Jervis Bay Club.

Whilst all did not play, the majority enjoyed the instruction from the Nowra Players on the game of golf croquet and how to hold on to your hat!!!

A barbecue luncheon was provided by the Nowra Probus club for the visitors and Nowra club members.

8 September 2017 - Ballina Croquet Club
 
Ballina celebrates all round performance in Northern Rivers Croquet Association Golf Tournament

The NRCA Golf Tournament was played over 9 glorious days at Lismore from 26 August to 3 September 2017. Players from Alstonville, Ballina, Cherry Street, Casino, Iluka, Lismore and Murwillumbah croquet clubs competed in handicap and level singles and doubles events.

Competition was keen and spirited. Ballina members won 8 out of the 12 events with runners up in 4 of these events. Casino members won the OBE doubles. Iluka, the newest club in the area, won the novice event and Lismore won 2 events including the Crusader Cup, the prestigious doubles championship event.

12 August 2017 - Nowra Croquet Club
 
Nowra Conducts Golf Croquet Singles Handicapped And Open Championships

Nowra Golf Croquet Handicap singles championships were played on Friday 28th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th July 2017.

16 members competed in two blocks of 8 players. The winner of Block A was Di Milne on a countback from Fay Marks.

B Block was won by Margaret Sawers on a count back from Graeme Lovell

In the semi-finals rapidly improving player Di Milne went on to beat Graeme and Fay beat Margaret, in the finals. Di and Fay played an exciting final trading hoops for the first 10 hoops then Di won the next two hoops to take the championship.

Continuing her winning way Di played in the top block in the club’s open championships a week later beating lower handicapped players David Turvey and Glyn Williams, lost to Wayne Worrall and state players David Hanbidge 6/7 and Margaret Sawers 4/7, Di reduced her handicap from 8 to 6 during the two competitions

Toronto Croquet Club Celebrates 25 Years

Toronto Croquet’s 25th Anniversary Celebrations last Saturday (22nd July) went off very well. We had ordered a beautiful day and held a Celebrity Challenge which included Greg Piper (State Member), Peter Coles, Tony McArthur, Brenda Wild, John Levick, Jackie McDonald, Christ Pont and some talented Toronto players. Founding member, Pam Durie, cut the cake at morning tea time. That evening we enjoyed dinner at the Toronto Worker’s Club whilst watching memorabilia photos on the club’s large screen. A day to remember!

27 June 2017 - Nowra Croquet Club
 
Nowra Hosts Annual Ricochet Doubles Handicap Carnival

Held under clear winter skies and with a touch of cool breezes, 14 ricochet enthusiasts enjoyed meeting up, playing competitively and socialising at Nowra for the annual ricochet carnival on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th June, 2017. Visitors came from Mt.Sugar Loaf. Sutherland, Toronto, EDSAC, Killara, Marrickville, Milton Ulladulla and joined with members of the Nowra Club to play a round robin competition. Saturday night players and club members enjoyed an evening meal together and on the completion of the games, a light luncheon was provided, prior to the presentations. The winners were Chris Williamson and Cheryl Patterson with five games and runners up Charles Britton and Roberta Flint (for a second time!! ) with four games on a count back with Greg Deakin and Diana Knox with four games. David Hanbidge (our Nowra champ ) visited to catch up with Brenda Wild prior to both being part of the NSW golf team to pay the Interstate Shield to be held in Brisbane
