With ominous clouds and scattered showers, twenty intrepid golf croquet players began a day of handicap doubles competition. Our efforts were shortly rewarded when the storm clouds cleared and the sun broke through.
In the morning, two blocks of five pairs played round robins. All games were closely fought. In one semi-final Sylvia Andrews and Herman Camphius defeated Mary and Ian Carswell. In the other Paul Mitchell and Bridget Earle defeated Jim Hicks and Thyra Nielsen.
The best of three game final was a marathon, going to the third game and finishing in the dark. Sylvia and Herman won the third game 6 - 5, becoming the 2011 Handicap Doubles champions.
