CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

Croquet NSW Inc is committed to ensuring that the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children are maintained at all times during their participation in sport and recreation activities under our control. CNSW aims to promote a safe environment for all children and young people and to assist staff, coaches, officials and volunteers in recognising Child Abuse and following the appropriate reporting/notification procedures.
CNSW has been allocated the Employment Identification Number: 10613

Implementation:

1. Child: A person who is under 18 years of age

2. Any member of CNSW who coaches or in other ways assists a child in the sport of croquet or a related sport is required to complete a "Prohibited Employment Declaration", copies of which may be obtained from CNSW headquarters. On completion, this form is to be sent to CNSW headquarters, where a file will be maintained.

3. If such member receives an honorarium (fee) which is fully deposited with either their club or with CNSW headquarters for such assistance, then the procedure is the same as that detailed in item 2. However, if the member receives a fee, portion or all of which is retained for services rendered, then CNSW is required to send the declaration to the Department of Sport and Recreation in order for that member to be screened by the Department.
It is suggested (although not compulsory, if no fee is retained) that all coaches (in particular), who supervise children e.g Aussie Croquet in schools, ensure that they are screened as detailed here but this provision is conditional on the the Dept. of Sport and Recreation having the facilities to do so.

4. When it is necessary to do so, CNSW is required to post the declarations to The Coordinator Employment Screening, NSW Sport and Recreation at its Sydney address.
