Congratulations to Canberra who played two tight games of gateball against Indonesian and Chinese teams to win the Australian Championship at Cairnlea at the weekend.  Canberra's achievement is notable because they defeated the Fu Jian club that won the World Gateball Championship two years ago. Although only one player form that world championship team was playing it could well be an indication that Aussie teams may increasingly be able to hold their own in international competition. Gateball is appearing on "Totally Wild" on Channel 10, 4pm Tuesday 29th October. A short segment in the program shows young people playing the game at the Southport Croquet Club.

Forthcoming Gateball Events:

• Remember to submit your entry forms for the NSW gateball championships being held at Canberra on 22nd to 24th November - fliers and entry forms are available on gateball.com.au. Two Japanese teams are expected which is great news. Any individuals who wish to be put in a composite team shouldget in touch well before the closing date for entries.  
  
• The Blue Mountains Teams Gateball Competition will be held at Blackheath on 15th-16th Feb 2014. 
  
• Newcastle National Park have decided to hold their gateball competition on the 5th-6th July 2014. 
  
• Our 2014 State gateball championship will be held in late November/early December at a venue to be confirmed
