After long and careful consideration, the Governing Committee has made the difficult decision to cancel our 10th Autumn Carnival scheduled for Friday 7th March to Wednesday 12th March 2014.
This Association Croquet carnival has run for 9 years apart from 2012 when heavy rain forced its cancellation. It was first advertised to all NSW Clubs in early November 2013, but by today’s date has only attracted nine entrants from the total of thirty we require.
It would be unfair to those applicants who have booked accommodation in Bundanoon if we don’t cancel now as it may preclude them from obtaining a refund of their deposits.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by our decision and will be contacting all applicants to arrange a full refund of application fees paid.
It is a sign of the times and indicative of our own Club membership that Golf Croquet is now the major game played, and Association Croquet players represent an all-time low of 25%. However, we are not giving up yet and hopefully there will be sufficient numbers to try again in 2015.
