Junior Croquet Day

Friday 21st April 2017

This is the first time we have tried a day just for junior players and it really was most enjoyable - for the juniors, their parents and grandparents and for the organisers. My sincere thanks to Alison Sharpe and Lisa Kelshaw for their assistance.

There were ten juniors present - 4 from Canberra, 2 from the Blue Mountains and four from Sutherland. I was disappointed that more clubs did not use the opportunity as information was sent to every club in NSW. I did contact Concordia Club and the local Marrickville paper but had no response.

We started with activities such as Eggs in the Basket, Dogs Hind Leg, the Ladder, Spot and Hoop, The Clock and best in 20. After a break for morning tea it was time to play a game with a supervisor with them. It was then time for lunch - Concordia does produce tasty chips!

The day finished with another game. All players thoroughly enjoyed the day and asked when was the next one. The suggestion was the last Friday in the next holidays but that clashes with a CNSW Championship so I have organised with David Stanton to run another Junior Day on Friday 8th July.

The day will go from 10am - 2pm with a break for lunch. It would be great to see a few more willing participants.

The CNSW Junior Championship is set down for the 9th and 10th July. Maybe some of these juniors would be interested in entering that as well.
